Shrill violins and dissonant piano keys. No sweet bolero intonations, no darkly enticing tangos, not a high-stepping rumba, not a single sultry female voice, nor the compelling timbre of a lustrous baritone, but a music equivalent to police and air-raid sirens, whistles and the stomping of boots, a music ever so distant from any good human feeling; just black notes floating off a score like ravens and crows, caw cawing violently into the darkness of an endless night...
